Homegrown joined the Medical Cannabis Community on December 7th 2018. We stepped into the business as a small team of family and friends with a mission to provide affordable, quality medicine to the community of Lansing. With blood, sweat and resin-sticky fingers, Homegrown became Lansing’s first licensed Recreational provisioning center on February 28th 2020. After our first few years of support from the community, we were able to set our sights from sourcing great medicine to growing it ourselves. With our focus on local products, we forged our very own cultivation center right here in Lansing.
Once we had established and perfected the art of growing cannabis, all we needed was a name for our brand that reflected our values. We chose ‘Harambe’ in honor of the gorilla shot and killed at the Cincinnati Zoo, creating a massive community response. ‘Harambe’ directly translated in Wahili, means “all pull together” which was a Kenyan national call-to-action towards rebuilding an empowered community. As a long standing facet of the cannabis community, we take our responsibility as pioneers in an emerging industry seriously. We put emphasis on giving back energy to the community that fueled us. Whether it be providing a scholarship, giving discounted products to veterans or donating to community non-profits, we make sure our roots here help the community grow and are a part of bringing ‘Harambe’ to Lansing.
The company prioritizes respect for the plant and consumer by producing the highest quality, lab tested product. We take pride in combining our growing expertise with an amazing retail experience. Our cultivation team hand selects genetics and grows them locally here in Lansing. Our packagers hand trim all of our flower and our budtenders provide education and a personalized customer service experience. We created a presence in the cannabis industry that remains true to our mission while keeping the needs of our patients and community top priority.
